CBI Arrests Two in NEET-UG Paper Leak Case, Total Arrests Reach 14

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended two individuals, including a prime suspect, in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. The arrests bring the total number of individuals detained in connection with various irregularities related to the exam to 14. The agency alleges that the prime suspect, a civil engineer, stole the exam paper from an NTA trunk in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and subsequently passed it on to other gang members.

Supreme Court to Hear Pleas on Controversial NEET-UG 2024 Exam

The Supreme Court will hear a batch of pleas related to the NEET-UG 2024 exam on Monday, July 8. Petitions seek a fresh exam and allege irregularities. The Centre and NTA oppose scrapping the exam, citing potential harm to honest candidates and lack of proof of widespread malpractices. The Medical Counselling Committee has postponed NEET UG and PG counselling indefinitely, following the Supreme Court’s rejection of a plea for delay.

The CBI conducted searches in Gujarat and arrested a journalist in Jharkhand for alleged involvement in irregularities related to the NEET-UG exam. The probe agency suspects a larger conspiracy involving multiple states and is investigating the extent of the connections of the accused in arranging candidates and facilitating them to attain good marks in the exam for a hefty consideration.

NEET Exam Irregularities: Priyanka Gandhi Demands Investigation

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has demanded a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities detected within the NEET medical entrance examination. She criticized the Modi government for ignoring students’ concerns and highlighted reports of suicidal incidents among candidates after the results. The National Testing Agency (NTA) denied the irregularities, citing NCERT textbook changes and grace marks as reasons for higher scores. However, many students have raised concerns about mark inflation, with an unprecedented 67 individuals achieving the top rank, including six from a single center.
