Lee Urges Biden to Avoid Political Lawfare, Republican Senators Vow to Block Democrat Priorities

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has called on President Biden to end the cycle of political lawfare, warning of its potential to erode American politics. He urged the President to reconsider the guilty verdict against former President Trump and avoid retaliatory lawfare.

In a show of solidarity, Republican senators, led by Lee, have pledged to block Democrat legislative priorities and nominations in the Senate following Trump’s conviction. The senators believe the verdict politicizes the judicial system and are determined to hold those responsible accountable.

The pledge, which has garnered support from 14 senators, aims to pressure Democrats into addressing the issue. Lee expects more Republican senators to join the movement and anticipates Democrats to face increasing pressure to respond.

Despite concerns about a potential government shutdown, Lee dismissed the notion, stating that a stopgap funding bill is likely when current appropriations expire in September. The White House did not comment on the matter.
