Corona Cero Embraces Athlete Wellness with New Contract Clause for Surfer Chloé Calmon

After 15 years of intense training and competitions, professional surfer Chloé Calmon, a three-time South American longboard champion, can finally take a break without the pressure of feeling idle or risking sponsorships. She is one of the first athletes to have a contract with Corona beer updated to include a clause guaranteeing relaxation periods without compromising the partnership. This initiative reinforces Corona’s sustainable and nature-connected purpose, which encourages a balanced and outdoor lifestyle. In the midst of intense training and tiring travels, the brand advocates for high-performance surfers to have periods of rest and reconnection. “This also positively impacts their performance,” says Gabriela Gallo, the brand’s director in Brazil. Currently, Chloé is taking a one-year break from competitions. She confesses that she always worried about the reaction of her sponsors, and the Corona Cero clause, a brand that has supported her for four years, was a great encouragement. “I think it’s important for this initiative to be visible so that other companies understand the importance of this conversation and help their athletes,” she says. “For a long time, I didn’t allow myself to fail. When I lost a stage, I was back to training the next day and didn’t give myself a moment to breathe. Today, I feel that taking care of mental health is a topic that is discussed more freely, and what was once seen as a vulnerability makes me stronger.” Beyond the new stage with the athlete, Corona Cero is part of Chloé’s routine in the late afternoon on the beach, when a long neck beer becomes a good companion. “I identified a lot with the values, the concern for sustainability, and the pursuit of well-being outdoors. Because these are ideals that are very present in my lifestyle, I became a big fan.” Daughter of surfer Miguel Calmon, Chloé spent her childhood on surfboards and turned professional at the age of 14 when she was invited to participate in the Longboard World Championship in Biarritz, France. In addition to dedicating her life to sports, she has now discovered a new pastime in the sea: kitesurfing. She also participates in women’s surf camps, traveling to meet and teach new practitioners, and is a yoga practitioner. Furthermore, she is dedicated to her business administration degree and finds peace in the company of her family, whether doing nothing or traveling to discover new beaches around the world. Recently, she embarked on a road trip through Spain and plans to enjoy this new phase without rushing.
