Lexa Opens Up About Hashimoto’s Diagnosis, Mental Health, and New Album in Exclusive Vogue Interview

Brazilian pop star Lexa is opening up about her personal struggles and triumphs in a revealing interview with Vogue Brasil. The singer, known for her infectious energy and chart-topping hits, candidly discussed her diagnosis with Hashimoto’s disease, her dedication to mental health, and the exciting new direction of her music career.

Lexa’s journey with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease, began amidst a tumultuous personal period, coinciding with the end of her marriage. “When I found out, I was going through a very difficult time. It was a lot of information from all sides. I started treatment, taking care of myself, and focusing on that. I put my life on hold to take care of my health,” she revealed. While the diagnosis initially came as a shock, Lexa has since learned to manage her symptoms and prioritize her well-being.

The singer’s openness about her health challenges aligns with her commitment to promoting mental health awareness. Lexa shared her journey with Vogue, emphasizing the importance of therapy, faith, and energy work in maintaining her mental well-being. “Therapy, faith, and energy – if you take care of those three things, everything flows better,” she explained.

This period of self-discovery has led to a newfound sense of self-acceptance and strength for Lexa. “I discovered that I am much stronger than I ever imagined I could be, and that I also accept my weaknesses and accept when I’m not okay. I’m learning to deal more and more with this side of myself, and to admire myself, to apologize. To keep my Ho’oponopono in order.”

Beyond personal growth, Lexa is also embracing a new chapter in her musical career. She recently released her first Spanish-language song, “Necessito”, marking a significant departure from her previous work. “It’s a completely different project from what I’ve been doing for the past few years representing funk. The Return of Saturn is there (laughs) and I wanted, as an artist and something personal, to deliver something different to my fans. The label came up with the idea of us going to Miami to make a music video, I thought it was crazy because I sing in Portuguese, I don’t have an international career dream, ‘why would I go outside Brazil? Wouldn’t that be confusing?’ But I decided to live the experience and it was simply the best video of my life. I think it fit me in a much more organic way, whatever happens will happen, but it’s not something I’m going to focus on just that. It’s a challenging project for me and that’s good. Now I feel much more ready and prepared to do something new.”

Lexa’s confidence and ambition shine through as she navigates her career. She’s taken a more hands-on approach to managing her career, stepping into a more prominent role alongside her mother, Darlin Ferrattry. While acknowledging the inherent complexities of working with family, Lexa expresses her determination to build a strong and successful future for herself. “I have a lot of dreams. I have this album ahead of me to release, I’m very energized and focused on this project. I’m very excited professionally speaking. I have a fitness clothing company, I have this business side of me, I also have my own publishing house. I’m working more and more to achieve even more excellence as a businesswoman. And in my personal life, what I imagine for myself is a family, to have children in the future. It’s in the plans to get married, travel this world even more with Ricardo. I want to enjoy this beautiful life a lot.”

Lexa’s story is a testament to the power of resilience, self-discovery, and embracing challenges. She’s not only inspiring fans with her music but also sharing her journey as a woman navigating health, career, and personal growth. As Lexa embarks on this exciting new chapter, her vulnerability, strength, and ambition are sure to captivate audiences around the world.
